Education Session

Choosing the “Right” Therapeutic Support Surface

Victoria, Nanaimo & Courtenay, BC

Join Motion’s Linda Norton for the education session, Choosing the “Right” Therapeutic Support Surface.

Therapeutic support surface options are endless: low air loss, alternating air, multi-zoned, foam, gel, active, reactive – and it can be overwhelming to select the “right” therapeutic support surface for an individual client. During this workshop, participants will explore the latest research and best practice recommendations for the selection of therapeutic support surfaces and apply this information in their clinical setting.

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Differentiate between active and reactive therapeutic support surfaces
  • List at least 3 potential risks associated with therapeutic support surface features
  • Describe how active and reactive support surfaces manage the forces that lead to pressure injuries
  • Describe the clinical factors that drive the selection of a therapeutic support surface for an individual
  • Select the “right” therapeutic support surface in 2 clinical scenarios

Motion is an IACET accredited provider of CEUs. This workshop is eligible for 0.1 CEUs.
