Alberta Government approves virtual assessments between clients, therapists & vendors to increase accessibility. The Alberta Aids to Daily Living (AADL) program has endorsed the use of virtual assessments; a big win for our clients – especially with the ongoing restrictions during the pandemic. All arrangements for virtual assessment must be approved by the AADL authorizer, and AADL authorizers are responsible for ensuring a complete and accurate assessment to confirm client eligibility as laid out in AADL policy. Authorizers are guided by the standards of practice and guidelines set out by their professional regulatory bodies, as well as their employers’ policies regarding both in-person and virtual care. AADL forms will still need to be completed and signed, including client signature where applicable. If an in-person signature cannot be obtained, signatures can be obtained by: Fax;Mail – mailed to the client for the final signature and mailed back; Electronic message in the form of a photo sent via email; orElectronic message in the form of a written agreement sent via email by all parties (e.g. client, authorizer, assessor and/or specialty supplier). The pandemic has changed so much, but changes like these are significantly increasing speed and efficiency within the funding process for our valued clients.
