This year marked an extra special milestone for Motion as we celebrated 40 years of business. It has been an opportunity for us to look back on how far we’ve come, set goals for the future, and honour the hundreds of employees and tens of thousands of clients who have been a part of our story – clients like Zoe and her mom Sarah-Lynne who I’m pictured with at the top of this article. Now in its 5th year, Motion’s 5 Days of Caring (December 1-5) is a wonderful opportunity to pause and celebrate the amazing impact of our employees while also celebrating International Day of Persons with Disabilities (December 3). Motion is recognized as an industry leader not only in tenure and size, but for our unparalleled service, expertise and care for our clients. This annual event is our chance to give thanks and make our impact go even further. Expanding Our Impact At the centre of our work will always be our clients. And we recognize how important it is that the difference that we make goes beyond the sale or service of equipment. As an organization with such scale, connections and expertise, we embrace our responsibility for playing an active role in our clients’ independence journeys. Whether this is contributing more than $100,000 in donations and sponsorships to community organizations each year, undertaking advocacy work to push for advancements in equipment funding, acting as a centre for education for health professionals, or providing a platform for persons with disabilities to share their stories and feedback, we take our role seriously and execute it with pride. Stories That Promote Awareness & Inspire Change In 2025, we shared many new perspectives. From Motion Client Ambassadors Garrick, Amanda, Jessica, Stacey, and Stephen to the first-ever recipient of a Motion scholarship Tristan and Motion employee Vickey who makes a trip to Peru each year to volunteer with Eleanore’s Project, these are important stories that offer insight into the lived experiences of persons with disabilities and their allies. And the stories don’t end here. I encourage you to take a few moments to read Natalie Morton’s article ‘When the System Says “No” to What My Body Needs: Why I Appealed an ADP Decision and Why It Matters for Others.’ Natalie’s story is powerful, personal, and an important call for change and we’re happy to be a part of it alongside our supplier partner Etac. Making Accessibility Possible: 2025 Equipment Donations In addition to Motion’s involvement in an equipment donation for Natalie, we’re also excited to have identified five other Motion clients where a gap in funding limited access to life-changing and essential mobility equipment. We will be providing the following equipment donations to coincide with our 5 Days of Caring with support from our supplier partners listed below. We look forward to sharing more about these client stories in the coming weeks on our socials. Ontario – Bailey – Low Air-Loss Mattress Rental Manitoba – Alyssa – Permobil Ti-Lite Manual Wheelchair Saskatchewan – Anika – Freedom Concepts Adaptive Bicycle Alberta – Philip – Pride Mobility Colt Mobility Scooter British Columbia – Maverick – Ramp Motion client Maverick who is receiving an equipment donation from Motion. Looking Ahead: Continuing the Vision of Accessibility for Everyone As we look ahead, our commitment to accessibility – and to the people we serve – has never been stronger. I’m honoured to lead a team that shows, every day, what care, expertise, and compassion can accomplish. By lifting barriers and expanding opportunities, we continue to make a real difference in the lives of our clients and communities. Sue This material does not constitute medical advice.
